Comparing the Technologies

Digital Light Processing, or DLP for short, has a little digital micromirror device that can tilt other small mirrors in the correct position either away from or towards the lamp in the TV. These small mirrors are about the size of a human hair. Upon doing this, it will create either a light or a dark pixel on the front of the screen. Depending upon on how much light is actually reflected on the mirrors will reflect the correct image on the screen by bending the light. DLP technology can even produce 1024 shades of gray. Liquid Crystal Display, or LCD, utilizes an array of transistors that will reflect the light into the correct picture and tone. The crystals inside of the TV are actually filled with liquid and placed in between two thin sheets of glass. When you hit these crystals with a charge of electricity, they will filter and split the white light in the right direction.
