Texans Win Tough Road Contest Against Bengals

By Ross Everett

Behind a career day for quarterback Matt Schaub, the Houston Texans erased a 17-14 halftime deficit to score-- points in the second half and defeat the host Cincinnati Bengals 28-17. Schaub threw for 342 yards and 4 touchdowns against one interception in the solid road victory. Against a team that had won three straight games in the final seconds, Houston never gave Cincinnati the chance to create any late drama. Cincinnati dropped to 4-2 with the loss while Houston evened their record at 3-3.

Houston took the money as +3' road underdogs with the outright win, and both teams are now 3-3 on the season against the NFL pointspread. The 45 points just managed to stay UNDER the posted total of 46. The Texans have gone UNDER in 4 of 6 this season while the Bengals evened their NFL totals record at 3-3.

After the victory, Schaub said that his team knew of Houston's penchant for late game comebacks and that 'putting them away' would be a priority:

"Every game went down to the wire for them. Credit goes to them because they were able to find ways to win those games. So it was a matter of putting the game away."

The Texans' taciturn head coach Gary Kubiak would only offer that:

"Matt continues to put up exceptional numbers on the road."

The defense did a stellar job as well, shutting out the Bengals in the second half. In the third quarter, Houston only allowed six yards on nine plays for a franchise record. Cornerback Dunta Robininson talked about the defensive corps mindset:

"It was swarm tackling. Everybody has a job to do, and today we made this team a one-dimensional team. Overall as a defense, we played well."

In the losing locker room, wide receiver Chad Ochocinco admitted that his team knew that they couldn't rely on last minute heroics to win games:

"That's our fault. We've been saying that we can't keep winning with the way we've been playing. We've got to be consistent for all four quarters."

The Bengals will play their next two games at home, starting with a contest against the Chicago Bears this Sunday. Cincinnati is a -1 home favorite with the total set at 42. They'll host the Baltimore Ravens the following Sunday before traveling to Pittsburgh for a game against the Steelers on November 15. The Texans host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, with Houston a -3 home favorite and the total set at 44. They'll take to the road for the next two games, playing Buffalo on November 1 and Indianapolis the following Sunday.

House Renovation: How Can Mothers Deal With It

By Raechelle White

Each nook and cranny of your home was comforting when suddenly, an offer of a new beginning came knocking on your door. Straightaway, you saw your tainted curtains, your dull furniture, and your boring lay-out. You remembered one quotation, "Do not do for tomorrow what you can do for today." Strange as it may appear, this quote grew more realistic to you than at any time that you have been a mother to three beautiful kids. Being the mother, you figured out that you are the only one who can do it; the one who holds the eye of the tiger for details. You wavered; but were innervated when you have recalled seeing demos in the television and reading much about it on magazines. In a brief moment you said to yourself: My consciousness is enough! What you want to do at long last came out, capsulized in one word: renovation!

Before we start getting giddy painting and buying things that we need, let us first be smart and make a checklist for our project: Are our sofas not as colorful as before? Do they possess a pigment that is becoming an attraction for germs and other microorganisms? Are our once cream-colored comfy bed turned into a gray-colored cushion with deep depressions? Does everything just seem flawed to our eyes? If we responded yes to any of these questions, then our askant view about our family's future is just right. And we know for sure that our being perfectionist will not let this moribundity continue.

With all the careful examination and budgeting, the process of renovation may really seem abstruse. It will consolidate a knowledge of reinventing things which may need the powers of an engineer; a plan of a new theme which may need the abilities of an architect; and of course, a basket of pixie dust (that will make your new home a picturesque of beauty) which may need the magic of a fairy. But who says we cannot be an interior designer? Who says mothers are just a bunch of weaklings that cannot even hook a nail? Well, for the information of non-home makers, we are also capable of performing novel things; specially if it is for our dear families. With this vindication, we can now "borrow" our hubby's bandoleer and arm it with our essential weapons for house reinvention.

After our home check-up and budget computing, let us now at last begin with our project. The things that we may do are the following: Modify Colors - Color is everything; it touches our moods. We should determine the perfect color that will suit the different personalities in our home; Get Over: Space is valuable; it is the key to lay-out. We should get over with the old, unaccommodating and cumbersome things we still keep in the house that makes it crowded; Add- The balance lies in addition and subtraction. If we take away old things, the remedy is to replace them with new and definitely helpful ones. These additions should not only be cozy to our family but also to the size of our home; and lastly, Creativity- Creativity is the cherry on top of our ice-cream. It is the element that gives vibrancy.

Restlessness and Muscle Aches, these are the certain symptoms that we will experience after this project. At the end of our brave and tiring pursuit, we may be even tagged as offbeat for our bold venture into something we are not really familiar with. But do not fret and regret, success or not, we surely earned something out of it. Just like what one quotation said, "Experience is what you get when you do not get what you want." With a "new" home, we can now be rest assured that every nook and cranny is fine. We may not be experts on house renovation but luckily, we are moms; we know best.

Retractable awnings have become very popular lately. They are a great add on to your porch or deck. They are convenient because you can retract them or keep them open depending on whether you want sun or shade or if there is bad weather.

Awnings are a great money saver. This is a fantastic alternative to installing a porch screen or having a roof built over your porch. You will not have to save up for very long to be able to purchase one of these great awnings.

Most companies that you purchase these from will either offer a money back guarantee or a good warranty. Make sure to do your research before making your purchase that way you can be sure to get the best deal. Retractable awnings are very durable though, as they are built to withstand rain, sun, and bad weather.

There are a lot of different colors and styles to choose from. Most people will want to buy one that matches the color of their house or lawn furniture. You can order them in any color so you make the decision as to what you want it to look like.

If you are having trouble affording an awning then you can find a coupon to save money online, in the newspaper, or even a home improvement magazine. If you know a friend who has purchased one they may have some coupons or could even refer you to a good deal.

There are many places you can go to purchase an awning. Your local home improvement store is a good start. They will usually carry these but there may not be as many to choose from. You can purchase these through mail order as well. There are also infomercials that come on nightly that will provide you with a telephone number to call to purchase over the phone. The biggest selection of awnings will be found online. You can browse through all the different designs and brands. This is probably the best way to go when shopping for an awning.

Retractable awnings are a great way to add some style and shelter to your back porch or deck. They are very stylish and can be purchased in many different colors. They are not very expensive so you will not break the bank by purchasing one.

UFC 94 Flashback: GSP Destroys BJ Penn

By Ross Everett

Reigning lightweight champ BJ Penn entered his main event battle against welterweight kingpin Georges St. Pierre looking to become the first man in UFC history to simultaneously hold titles in two weight classes. GSP never gave him the chance to make history, as he stopped Penn after four increasingly dominant rounds to retain his belt with a TKO victory.

During ring introductions, both men received enthusiastic cheers tempered with a few boos. After the opening horn sounded, however, the Penn backers had little to cheer about . The first round was fairly evenly contested, with St. Pierre trying to get a first hand feel for Penn's often unorthodox takedown defense. GSP made several takedown attempts, but had them repeatedly stuffed.

Boxing guru Freddy Roach recently praised Penn as the best technical puncher in MMA, but he had no opportunity to bring this weapon to bear as he had trouble finding the range from the outset. GSP mixed up his look perfectly, either staying just outside Penns range using his 6 reach advantage effectively or more often smothering his opponent on takedown attempts.

GSP began to assert his dominance in round two"with Penn starting to fatigue he was no longer able to fend off St. Pierres single leg takedown attempts by balancing on one leg. GSP got a takedown early in the frame and began to mount a ground and pound assault while moving around in Penns legendary guard almost at will moving from half guard to side control with frightening ease.

The eventual outcome was foretold between rounds two and three, as the obviously exhausted Penn required a pep talk from his entourage to continue. Across the cage, GSP calmly sipped water and listened intently to trainer Greg Jacksons instructions looking for all the world that he could go 12 rounds if necessary.

Round three was similar to the previous one, with GSP taking his opponent to the mat with a decreasing level of resistance and mauling him with punches and elbows once he got there. His complete control over the BJJ black belt Penn was incredible, but hardly surprising given the way that GSP dominated four time NCAA All American wrestler Josh Koscheck on the ground during their matchup.

The fourth round was a wall to wall rout for the welterweight champion, who started by effectively trading strikes with Penn before taking him down once again and resuming his highly successful ground based attack. At this point with GSP moving around at ease and Penn mounting little resistance it was apparent that the challenger was physically spent. St. Pierre almost ended the fight on the ground, as referee Herb Dean repeatedly reminding Penn that he needs to fight back. Penn survived the round on instinct alone, moving around just enough to keep the referee from stopping the proceedings. After the horn sounded to end the fourth round, however, it was evident that Penn had nothing physically or emotionally left and the fight was stopped by Dean on advice from the ringside physician.

Displaying his characteristic class, GSP delayed his celebration until he had crossed the cage and kneeled by his vanquished foe to honor his competitive spirit.

In the co-feature attraction, Lyoto Machida kept his undefeated professional MMA record intact with a first round TKO victory over Thiago Silva. Silva had no answer for Machidas well rounded skills and unorthodox Shotokan karate based style. Machida may be the best in the world at fighting while backing up, and Silva found his aggressive style working against him. Machida took his opponent down and knocked his opponent down twice"all counters as Silva was coming forward and Machida backing away. As the first round entered its final seconds, it appeared that Silva started to ease up in anticipation of the horn. Machida used this opportunity for another takedown, and then nailed his surprised opponent with a powerful punch that ended the fight.

Wedding Chair Covers Are Essential For Any Wedding

By Darren Ackers

A few years ago the choice for Wedding Chair Covers was very scarce, however now there are a number of companies hiring wedding chair covers for weddings.

Wedding Chair Covers are available in a wide range of sizes and fabrics which they are made from. In our opinion the best fabric to use is a polyester twill which is a thick woven material, this will hide the chairs and stop the chairs shining through when the light hits them. If you can see the chair through the chair cover then there's no point spending the money hiring chair covers.

The colours vary, if you go for a bright white Chair Cover you should find it easier to tie in other colours within your wedding theme. Typically a polyester white chair cover will look cleaner and fresher since polyester is less likely to crease than cotton and can be cleaned at a high temperature.

Depending on your colour theme, chair covers are available in a range of colours. The most popular colour being white with a coloured organza sash. Depending on the chair size and style to be dressed, they come in a range of shapes and sizes. Not every banquet chair is the same size, even if they look the same. For example the same style chair made in China could be a different size to the same chair made in America.

The next item to select is the sash or bow to tie around the chair. Again sashes come in a variety of sizes, colours and materials. The most popular being organza, organza sashes with finished beaded edges compliment chair covers very well. There are of course other materials used to make sashes such as satin, silk and cotton.

If you choose to hire wedding chair covers for your wedding day, always, always obtain a sample of the chair cover and sash. You need to see the colour of the sash and more importantly the quality of the chair cover. When you receive the sample take it down to the venue and try it for size on the chairs. The last thing you want on your big day is the chair covers arriving and not fitting the chairs.

Clemson Upsets Miami In Overtime

By Ross Everett

The Clemson Tigers used a touchdown pass on their first possession of overtime to upset the Miami Hurricanes 40-37 on Saturday night to cap a back and forth game. Miami kicked a field goal on their first possession of overtime to take the lead, but Clemson responded with a seldom used play on third and 11 to get the victory as quarterback Kyle Parker completed a 27 yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Ford. Clemson improved to 4-3 with the win while Miami slipped to 5-2.

College football betting devotees who backed Clemson as +4 road underdogs eventually cashed their tickets, but they definitely earned their money in a game that saw twelve lead changes and two ties. Clemson improved to 5-2 against the spread with the cover, while Miami dropped to 4-3 against the money. The 77 combined points sailed OVER the posted total of 43. It was only Miami's second OVER of the season against four UNDER verdicts while Clemson has gone OVER in three of their seven games.

After the game, Jacoby Ford explained his logic for suggesting the surprise play in the huddle:

"We knew this game was going to come down to who made more plays. And we did."

Miami has a history of winning when their offense is clicking-this loss was only the second in 115 games when the Hurricanes score 37 or more points dating back to'85.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was just glad this one is over:

"I have a birthday next month and I think I'm going to turn 50 instead of 40. We had to put on Superman capes. We made plenty of mistakes that could have lost us the game, but they played with poise and confidence. We just kept battling."

CJ Spiller was also a big factor for the Tigers as he set a school record with 310 all purpose yards including a 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He also added 81 yards rushing and 104 yards receiving with a 56 yard touchdown catch.

Clemson QB Parker suggested that last week's win over Wake Forrest was a turning point for his team:

"I think last week we realized that we could be really good and this week we acted on it. I thought we really got some explosive plays and we played well."

Miami's quarterback Jason Harris sounded a markedly different tone in his postgame comments:

"This has to be my toughest loss here. We fought so hard throughout the game as a team and didn't come out with the victory. We let Clemson outwork us, we turned the ball over too much -- little things that made us get to this point."

Clemson will host FCS foe Coastal Carolina next Saturday before resuming ACC play the following week at home against Florida State. Miami plays two of their next three on the road, starting next weekend at Wake Forest. They'll face the University of Virginia at home the next week before traveling to Chapel Hill for a game against North Carolina on November--.

Job Options Are Few For Young Teenagers

By Patty Stein

As the New Year approaches, many teenagers are readying themselves to hunt a summer job. With this failing economy the number of jobs for teens are following, and next year may be worse than the last. Only those teens that think ahead will have a job waiting on them. Many teens just don't want to take up a job; they'd rather be enjoying their free time. However, those who wish to help their families or make money to save up to go to college need to do all they can during the summer months to have enough money saved up.

Kids around the age of thirteen to fourteen are going to have next to no jobs available for them. As parent teach the blossoming teenagers who are starting to approach the age of 15 about having their own responsibilities, the teens venture out to learn about the real world. But many jobs require you to be at least sixteen years old and finding a job even at that age is tough already, it can't be a real struggle to find a job in such a situation.

As mentioned above there are limiting factors for age, and even the law has limitations for younger teens. It is for the safety of the teen to keep them protected from any dangerous situations that may occur on the job. Teens need to stay in school so they are limited by law to not work more than a certain number of hours. They can however work a few more hours during the summer time, but there is still a limit.

A great number of companies choose not to employ teenagers between 13 and 15 years of age because of immaturity and the government regulations that pertain to them. The majority of employers will just decide not to hire young teens. Another obstacle is that employers often have to obtain additional insurance that makes their overhead increase.

Because jobs are really hard to find for young teens, many end up doing extra chores for parents or mowing lawns around the neighbor so they can have spending money. Of course you can't forget about those who end up baby sitting or house sitting. But these random odd jobs won't be enough to supplement a serious attempt to save money. And of course they always desire to have a real job where the income was steady.
