Jason Williams To Return To NBA Action With Orlando

By Ross Everett

Veteran point guard Jason Williams"nicknamed White Chocolate earlier in his career for his flamboyant play"is returning to the NBA after a season away from basketball. Williams announced that hes re-entering the league this season, and will do so in an Orlando Magic uniform.

Williams signed a one year NBA contract to play for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008, but walked away from it without playing a game. At the time, his wife was facing some complications during her pregnancy with their third child and Williams wanted to be able to spend time with her and his family.

Ultimately, he settled on Orlando due to its proximity to his home in nearby Isleworth, Florida and the role the Magic wanted him to play on a championship contender. Magic General Manager Otis Smith provided these comments on the signing:

"Jason provides depth and leadership to our backcourt. He is a veteran point guard that knows what it takes to help us reach our ultimate goal."

Williams has become more of a consistent player as hes matured, and should provide some valuable depth in the Magic backcourt. When asked to reflect on his NBA and college career"marked by several suspensions and countless other controversies"Williams sounded a philosophical tone:

"Let me tell you this: If I could go all the way back [to the beginning], I wouldn't do a damn thing different. I know I messed up here and there along the way, but those things I didn't do right helped me become the person I am now."

Williams played a crucial backup role during the Miami Heats 2005-2006 NBA championship run, and will be expected to play a similar function as the Magic try to get over the hump and unseat the reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

The Beekeeper Supplies A Beginner Needs

By Josh Edwards

Many people are passionate about beekeeping and do it as a hobby. For someone who wish to start this, he or she would need knowledge of this and would need beekeeper supplies beforehand. You should not expect to become wealthy with this hobby. They should also not be concerned about the legalities as it is legal to do this.

Novices are able to purchase standard kits and these kits come with full instructions on how to begin. The prices of these kits begin at around two hundred and eighty dollars. Kits can be assembled or packed flat. The kits usually contain a record book, a veil that has a ring, a hat, feeder, galvanized smoker, stainless steel hive tool and a pair of plastochrome gloves.

A deluxe kit contains more or less the same. Extras would include a jacket, smoker cartridges and specialized feeder. Secondhand hives could be purchased from auctions. Bees must be inspected by a local inspector and must be disease free.

Because the square hive is more practical, it is a best seller. WBC hives tend to be impractical if portability is what you are after, but it is reasonably attractive. For strong colonies, the commercial hives are the best option. They are bigger, square and the brood area is more spacious. This ensures a lower risk of swarming. Planning the hive area is up to you. There are no specified rules for it.

Any size garden will suffice to keep beehives. You can keep them on rooftops or on balconies. To safeguard passersby from getting stung, make sure it is directed away from footpaths and public roads. Place the hive on a level surface. Because bees are ideal for pollination, they are an advantage in gardens. They may even be responsible for bigger and tastier fruit.

Bees can be a nuisance to those nearby. Ensure neighbors are kept informed about your plans and supply them with some honey to keep them sweet, so to speak. One could learn all there is to learn about bees from your local association. There are also numerous books available to help.

Many people would want to know what to do if they get stung. When you get stung, simply remain calm. Try not to move too much as this will just agitate the bees further. Apparently, some bee venom is able to cure certain ailments. A doctor should be consulted if this happens.

It is good to know that keeping bees is not a time consuming hobby. In summer, you can inspect the hive once every week. In winter, checking to see if there is food once a month will be enough. A special valve in the hive, ensures that bees can go down, but once down, cannot go up again. You can now collect honey with an extractor from the frames.

Bottle it, slap a label on it, and make the most of it. You can use hive products for polish, cosmetics and candles. Mouthpieces and royal jelly are also byproducts from a hive.

Keep hives clean, and have your bees checked for diseases twice a year. Just like other pets, it is possible for bees to carry diseases. That sums up the expertise of beekeeping.

San Diego To Be Without 'LT' For Second Straight Week

By Ross Everett

LaDanian Tomlinson is still not fully recovered from a sprained right ankle, and as a result hell miss his second consecutive NFL regular season game this Sunday. Tomlinson was hurt in the San Diego Chargers season opening victory over the Oakland Raiders and didn't play last week. The Chargers are slated to host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

After playing in eight consecutive regular season games last year, the superstar running back has missed three of the Chargers last four games. Most significant was last January, when a groin injury kept LT out of the Chargers AFC playoff loss to the eventual Superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

When asked about his injury, Tomlinson refused comment:

"I don't have a comment about it. It is what it is."

Until his recent bouts with injury, Tomlinson had been one of the most durable running backs in the league. Prior to last season, the only start hed missed in his career was the season finale in 2004 when then-coach Marty Schottenheimer rested Tomlinson and other starters in advance of the NFL playoffs.

Chargers' coach Norv Turner spoke about Tomlinson's injury:

"It's hard because you'd like to have all your guys. It's crazy, because on Sept. 1, when people were asking me what I thought about camp, I said it was great that we were healthy and had all our guys, because that's something we haven't had in a while.

"I think we're doing the right thing with L.T. Obviously he couldn't play this week, you know, but he's getting better and hopefully he'll be able to go next week. if not, he'll be ready to go when the bye's over."

The Chargers also have a half dozen players listed as questionable due to flu like symptoms. Turner spoke about their prognosis:

"I think we're beyond the guys who had it. I obviously have a concern that they're not too drained, but I think we have a couple days to get them back. My concern is what's going to pop up tomorrow morning or Sunday morning because obviously it's going through the building."

Darren Sproles started in LTs place last week, and has performed well this season. Hes not as powerful a back as Tomlinson, but is a heady player who uses his speed and elusiveness to pick up yardage.

The Chargers are a -6 home favorite against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday, with the total set at 44. The first half line on the game is San Diego -3 with the total set at 21. San Diego will travel to the Steel City of Pittsburgh next Sunday to face the Superbowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, and then enjoy a much needed bye week.

Stan Mikita: Pro Hockey's Unsung Hero

By Ross Everett

Professional hockey players from the former Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia are now ubiquitous, but Stan Mikita was something of a pioneer. The Chicago Blackhawks legend was sometimes relegated to secondary status behind more telegenetic stars like teammate Bobby Hull, but you can make a very good case that Mikita was the best NHL forward of the'60's. He was born in Sokolce, in what is now known as Slovakia. In the conflict torn years prior to WW II, he was sent to Canada and adopted by an aunt and uncle. Like most young Canadian boys, he started playing hockey and quickly exhibited significant talent at the country's national sport.

As a teenager, Mikita starred for the St. Catherine Teepees of the junior league Ontario Hockey Association. In'59, he made the jump to the NHL for good joining the Chicago Blackhawks. He played sparingly in his first partial season in the NHL, but quickly became an important part of the Chicago offense in his first and second full seasons as a pro. In'61, he led the team in playoff scoring as they won the Stanley Cup"his only championship during his career and the last time the franchise would win the NHLs highest team honor.

During the early and mid'60's, Mikita's Blackhawks were the most feared offensive team in the NHL. Mikita centered the Scooter Line with Ken Wharram on the right wing and Ab McDonald or Doug Mohns on the left wing, and earned a reputation as one of the most complete offensive players in the game.

Mikitas influence wasnt limited to offensive output"he was a feared defensive player and considered one of the best faceoff men in the game. He also brought about one of the most significant innovations in NHL history, being the first to play with a curved stick blade. This was a very radical modification at the time, but was quickly copied throughout the league to the point where today a player that *doesnt* play with a curved stick is considered something of an anachronism.

When he first came to the NHL, Mikita was a tough, hard hitting player who spent a considerable amount of time in the penalty box. That changed in the mid'60's when he became a very sportsmanlike player almost overnight. This cleaner style of play would earn him the Lady Byng Trophy for most gentlemanly player twice. The story goes that he had a change of heart when his young daughter asked why he spent so much time sitting in the box on televised games.

In addition to his Stanley Cup victory, Mikitas career accomplishments are among the most impressive in NHL history. He won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHLs leading scorer four times (1964,'65,'67,'68), the Hart Memorial Trophy for Most Valuable Player twice (1967 and'68) and the Lady Byng Trophy in'67 and'68.

Mikita suffered from chronic back ailments later in his career, and finally retired in'80 having played his entire career for the Chicago Blackhawks. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in'83, but became known to a younger generation in a more unusual way. In the movie Waynes World, Wayne and Garth frequently hang out at a donut shop based on the Canadian Tim Hortons chain. The name of the shop is Stan Mikitas Donuts.

Panthers Get On Track With Win Over Bucs

By Ross Everett

Carolina Panthers' quarterback Jake Delhomme struggled on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and was fortunate that his running backs bailed him out. Delhomme threw for only 65 yards with two interceptions, but D'Angelo Williams (152 yards) and Jonathan Stewart (110 yards) kept the chains moving as the Panthers won their second straight game defeating the Bucs 28-21. Tampa Bay has now lost ten straight dating back to last season and are 0-6 for the first time since'85. The fact that they ended up starting that year 0-9 on their way to a 1-15 record doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

NFL sports bettors were faced with a choice between two teams with dismal ATS records in this game, and those who had the guts to take a 1-3 team as a -3 road favorite were rewarded with the cover. It was Carolina's first NFL pointspread cover of the season and left them with a 1-4 record against the number. Tampa Bay has covered one of their six games this year. The 49 points scored went OVER the total of 40'. Tampa Bay has gone OVER in 4 of 6, while Carolina has exceeded the total in three of their five games.

Delhomme attempted only seven passes in the second half, but the way Williams and Stewart were running there was no reason to put the ball in the air. Williams said that even though Tampa Bay knew what was coming they couldn't stop the Panthers' running game:

"I'm sure everybody in the stadium knew what we were going to do. There were times they had nine in the box and we were still getting 7 or 8 yards."

There's been little impatience locally with Bucs' rookie head coach Raheem Morris, but his weekly habit of explaining the obvious to rationalize yet another loss is starting to wear thin:

"We got overpowered at the end, and really throughout the game."

Carolina safety Dante Wesley was ejected after clobbering Bucs' return man Clifton Smith after a fair catch call. After the game, Wesley gave this defense for his actions:

"I was just trying to make a play. You can check my record. I've never really tried to hurt anybody. I've never tried to take a cheap shot on anybody."

Wesley could face a possible fine or suspension from the NFL but, in all fairness, it did appear to be a momentary mental lapse as he was trying to make a big play and not a deliberate attempt to injure Smith.

Tampa's schedule has the look of them going from 'the frying pan into the fire' as they host the New England Patriots next Sunday-fresh off of their 57 point drubbing of Tennessee. Carolina has an easier draw, hosting the Buffalo Bills next Sunday. The game is currently off the board pending the status of Bills' QB Trent Edwards who suffered a concussion in Sunday's win over the New York Jets. The Panthers will then play on the road the following two Sundays, traveling to Arizona and New Orleans.

An Introductory Guide To New York Pedestrian Accident Lawyers

By Samuel Levy

Several cities of the world have traffic laws in place which have been created specifically to give pedestrians the right of way over motor vehicles in almost any situation. New York City is not one of those cities. Even so in the frantic pace of life and traffic in New York City pedestrians still have rights. When pedestrians sustain injuries in accidents they need the services of a pedestrian accident lawyer. A pedestrian accident attorney will protect their rights and will make sure that they are justly compensated for their injuries and suffering.

Accident statistics in New York City signifies that this city has more pedestrians per capita than any other North American city. The accident statistics also shows that near to half of all traffic deaths in New York City are pedestrians. The most common type of injuries sustained by survived pedestrians is the head and spinal cord injuries. You may have realized the fact by yourself but only by a seasoned pedestrian accident lawyer you can deal with the ramifications that may have such an effect on your life and on your case.

A pedestrian in New York City is often exposed to several kinds of danger but with a little or nothing to do with motor vehicles. Pedestrians are exposed to danger at every time when simply walking along on a side walk or crossing the street at a green light. Not just motorists are endangering people but also bicyclists who can be heedless and as dangerous as motorists.

New York City is continually renewing and rebuilding itself. Huge construction projects pose a real threat to pedestrians. Construction materials or tools can fall upon people walking below with serious injuries resulting. Thankfully these kinds of accidents are relatively rare, however they still require the services of an experienced pedestrian accident attorney if justice is to be done and appropriate compensation is to be received.

If you happen to get injured in a New York pedestrian accident then you will need immediate and extended medical care. In addition to it you will be compensated for the loss of your wages and the pain and suffering which you experienced due to the accident.

The pedestrian will get coverage through New York's No-Fault Insurance Law if he happens to get injured by a motor vehicle in New York State. Around $50,000 can be paid for the medical bills with the New York's No-Fault coverage. The coverage for your medical expenses and property damage would be given by the insurance company of the driver who caused you the injury.

If you feel that you are not adequately compensated for your pain and suffering then you have to file for a lawsuit against the person who is accountable to the injury. After that you have to find an experienced pedestrian accident attorney who can prove to be a trusted and essential ally during the course of the legal proceedings.

In certain situations a pedestrian may have contributed to the accident in some way or the other. Even if it's in the particular condition where the pedestrian or the suspected party other than the motorist contributed to such an accident, those parties may still sue for compensation in accordance with New York's comparative liability law. Most of the pedestrian accident attorneys have dealt with this type of issues frequently.

Collect as much evidence and information about the accident as possible. Note down the details of the accident like a description of the vehicle that hit you, including year, make, model and color. Making a note of the precise location of the accident is also a very good idea. Due to the emotional toll that such a mishap may cause, seriously consider seeking the help of others (including a pedestrian accident lawyer) as soon as you can.
